Outreach Header

Outreach is the act of reaching through service to groups that have a need.

ACross Life is partnering with different churches and organizations to create effective community-based programs in the D.C. Metro Area. We are developing programs that focus on youth development, service, and leadership. However, we are not only limited to these areas. We are open to finding and developing new programs that address the needs of diverse groups in our communities.

Charles Dubois said, "The important thing is this: To be able at any moment to sacrifice what we are for what we could become."

It is important to build our communities. Communities are being neglected, which further affects the opportunities for our youth. "Sacrificing what we are for what we could become", in Dubois' quote, speaks about sacrificing individualism for community –working together versus working for personal gain. We are taking what we are and connecting to a system dedicated to build people and their communities.

ACross Life has been working hard in developing two outreach programs:

ACL Puzzle

Puzzle is a youth program focused on development and leadership. The program's mission is to develop personal and career goals through self-awareness, and develop team building through service-oriented projects. This program works closely with youth, both in small groups and individually. We seek different possibilities by going on field trips, researching, and setting up internships so each member gains exposure to each of their goals.

"Working together to accomplish a greater good should be on everyone’s checklist. Everyone has a role to play, and if we can help our youth accomplish what we as adults are still trying to find—purpose-- then we might be able to get more tasks done." Giavanti Greenaugh, ACross Life

The program meets on Saturdays from 12:00p.m – 3:00p.m starting January 9, 2010.

Session Schedule:

  • Enrichment Activity (12:00 p.m. – 12:15 p.m.)
  • Small Group Discussion (12:15 p.m. – 12:45 p.m.
  • Individual Meetings (12:45 p.m. – 1:15 p.m.)
  • Service-oriented projects/Team building exercise (1:15 p.m. – 2:45 p.m.)
  • Prayer (2:45 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.)

Please email us for any more questions or ideas at info@acrosslife.com. We are looking for sponsors and internship opportunities. Thank you for your continued support.

Love Bears Life

LoveBearsLife is a service-based program that focuses on showing love through events that address personal and collective needs. There are no limitations on the event or activity and projects are developed and implemented by its members. The service projects are called Harvests, which are kind gestures toward everyday people. These Harvests will serve every demographic and age. They will be very practical and will only function under motives that promote love, giving, support, and life.

(1) If I speak in the tongues[a] of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. (2) If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. (3) If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames,[b] but have not love, I gain nothing.

(4) Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. (5) It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. (6) Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. (7) It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres.

(8) Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. (9) For we know in part and we prophesy in part, (10) but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. (11) When I was a child, I talked like a child; I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. (12) Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

(13) And now these three remain: faith, hope and love, but the greatest of these is love." 1 Corinthians 13:1-131

We are aiming to have Harvests happen monthly. Our first Harvest is January 23, 2010. We are diligently seeking ideas and needs that can be addressed through LoveBearsLife. Please email info@acrosslife.com for any questions or suggestions.
